BrainWeighve Research Study Privacy Policy and Notice

The BrainWeighve study recruitment site collects information that identifies, relates to, describes, references, is capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular individual or device (“personal information”).

Also, please keep in mind that you do not need to complete the online form in order to learn about the study. You may also opt to call or email the study research team in order to learn more about the study and/or complete the screening information via phone rather than online. You can also submit the form with only a name and contact information if you would like to have a study team member call you and conduct the screening via phone.

The online recruitment form can be completed and submitted by the potential participant (adolescent ages 14-18) or their parent or legal guardian. We are not allowed to collect any personal information of children 13 years or younger; we are not seeking to recruit youth 13 years or younger and we will delete any information given to us regarding these minors.


Use of Information:

In particular, our Website collects personal information for the following purposes:

To fulfill or meet the reason you provided the information. Meaning, if you share your name and contact information to be contacted about the research study advertised, the research team will use that personal information to respond to your inquiry.

Detecting security incidents and protecting against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity.

Information will be used only by the UCLA research team to assist in determining eligibility for participation in the research study advertised. We do not share information with third party entities. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.


Data Security and Retention:

The information submitted by you is safely stored in a secure database that is protected from unauthorized access. Any information that is obtained in connection with this study and that can be identified with you will remain confidential and will be disclosed only with your permission or as required by law. Your data may be stored and shared for future research with your permission.
